Five albums that shaped me

I've had a busy week (mostly filled with visiting my Mom in hospital), so today is the first day I've been able to check the Pagecord Spotlight.

I spotted a few posts that began with Martin, then Olly, then Gary, all answering a call to "Introduce yourself with five albums that have shaped you.".

Never one to miss an opportunity to have fun with music, here are my 5 albums:

  1. October (1981) by U2
  2. Born to Run (1975) by Bruce Springsteen
  3. South of Heaven (1988) by Slayer
  4. Animals (1977) by Pink Floyd
  5. Stop Making Sense (1984) by Talking Heads

These are all albums that I've played to death and that had a profound effect on me as I was growing up. I was born in 73, and feel lucky to have grown up when I did. There was a wealth of truly great music in both the 70's and 80's.

This isn't just a list of favourites, though they'd also fit into that category. These are albums that in some ways influenced my view of music, the world, or both. It's only a short list, so there are many omissions, but this is what I have without spending a week agonising over my choices!
